Bert Schlossberg Presented on KAL 007 in Washington, D.C. and Connecticut

Bert Schlossberg appeared at two meetings in February, 2002. These were for relatives and friends of passengers aboard KAL 007 and other interested parties to meet with him, ask questions, find out what the International Committee for the Rescue of KAL 007 Survivors, Inc. has been doing and to strategize about the future.

The first meeting was held on February 14th at the Army Navy Club in Washington, D.C.  In addition to the above, it also served as a forum for a press conference.  The second one was held on February 18th at the Holiday Inn in East Windsor, CT.

During the press conference in Washington, D.C., both Bert Schlossberg and Ben Torrey presented the following statements:

Also presented was a statement that Senator Jesse Helms made February 13th:

Hundreds of petitions calling on Presidents Bush and Putin to inquire into the KAL 007 incident were supposed to be delivered by family members following the press conference.  However, neither the White House nor the Russian Embassy were willing to accept them at the time.  Once the appropriate contacts within the two organizations are identified, they will be delivered.
